Funded and Non Funded Places At Kendal Nursery School
We offer nursery places for children aged 2 to 4 years, right up until they move on to Primary School.
Our provision is arranged into three welcoming classes, plus an additional option for preschool children to access our fully outdoor class. All our classes enjoy access to our amazing outdoor grounds and are led by a nurturing teaching team and experienced Teaching Assistants.
You may already be aware that Government funding is available for Early Years places. The amount of funding you can receive depends on your working status, income, and your child’s age.

3 Year old Funded Places
All children aged 3 and 4 are entitled to 15 hours of free childcare per week (from the term after their 3rd birthday).
Some families may qualify for 30 hours of funding.
Flexible Attendance Options
15 Hours
🔹 2 full days
🔹 3 days (9am – 3pm) – a 3-hour top-up required
30 Hours
🔸 5 classroom days (9am – 3pm)
🔸 3 extended days (8am – 5:30pm)
🔸 4 bespoke days tailored to your family’s needs
✨ Top-up hours can be added at just £5.50 per hour.
Outdoor School (Preschool Option)
As an additional chargeable activity our preschool children can enjoy longer, richer experiences in nature in our Outdoor Class – this is a fully outdoor option running from 9am to 3pm.
✅ Attend just Outdoor School, or combine with our usual nursery provision.
✅ Wraparound care (breakfast and afterschool club) available for extended days.
✅ Funded hours can be used here.
A £10/day supplement applies to cover:

2 Year old Funded Places
We offer term-time nursery places for eligible 2-year-olds.
If you qualify for 2-year-old funding, your child can receive 15 hours of free nursery education per week, starting the term after their 2nd birthday .
How Can the 15 Hours Be Used?

✨ Top-up hours can be added at just £6.50 per hour.
Additional Top-Up & Paid Sessions
If you’re not eligible for funding, or would like to add extra sessions, we offer affordable rates:
🔹 2-year-olds: £6.50 per hour
🔹 3- to 4-year-olds: £5.50 per hour
Top-up hours for funded places are charged at the same rate
