Lunches

Lunch club at Kendal Nursery School

Children work and play so hard whilst at Nursery!.  Eating a healthy lunch allows them to live life to the full and get the most out of their time at Nursery. Eating healthily helps children with their concentration levels – which in turn affects their development and achievement. Lunch is also an opportunity to learn: about sharing and having a meal with others, using knives and forks, and about healthy eating and food. Our lunch times are staffed by qualified Nursery staff who are familiar with your child.  Staff sit with a group of children around a table allowing time to talk and listen.

At lunch times children can either bring in a packed lunch from home or alternatively order a hot dinner online.

Packed Lunches

If your child is having a packed lunch at dinner time please could we request that you send them with a healthy packed lunch and a drink.

Please find on the link below healthy eating ideas and lunchbox ideas for your children. You can find lots of expert advice on the Nutritionist Resource website especially advice for fussy eaters.

Grapes are a great fruit that children love to eat but please could you always cut them in half, as children can easily choke on whole grapes

Hot school dinners

There is also an option to order a hot school meal for your child – dinners cost £2.70 each.   It’s good to know that our children are getting a well-balanced and healthy school meal – all our lunches are cooked fresh each day by a local school.  The menu is a three week rota and is changed each term.  Hot dinners can be ordered via the School Hub website – www.schoolhub.co.uk/login  where you are able to order up to 2 weeks in advance. The office will set you up an account and provide you with a username and password. Orders are to be made before 9.30am otherwise a packed lunch will need to be provided.
